Authorities from the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) and the Vallejo Fire Department (VFD) were dispatched to a serious traffic collision on Sunday night that resulted in one fatality, marking the city's fifth traffic-related death this year. According to the Vallejo Fire Department, the accident occurred at approximately 9:43 PM at Columbus Parkway, south of Devlin Drive.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found two badly damaged vehicles and a passenger who was unresponsive and trapped inside one of the cars. Emergency medical personnel were on the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but to no avail, as the passenger was pronounced dead on the site. The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries during the collision and were taken to local hospitals, with one driver suffering from serious injuries; the nature of the injuries of the second driver has not been disclosed.

The preliminary investigation suggests that impairment might have played a role in the tragedy. While toxicology tests are still pending, the results of which will be confirmed following an autopsy.
