The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has taken a man into custody in connection with a fatal shooting in Valrico, marking a somber turn in what began as a death investigation. Yesterday afternoon, HCSO was alerted to the incident after receiving a call from Michael Zammiello, aged 48, who reported what he claimed to be an accidental injury.
Zammiello’s call led deputies to a quiet residence on the 4200 block of Amber Ridge Lane, where they discovered 73-year-old Shirley St. Pearre suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. St. Pearre was quickly transported to a local hospital but, despite medical efforts, was later pronounced dead. During subsequent questioning by detectives, Zammiello admitted to having accidentally shot St. Pearre inside the home. He was subsequently arrested without further incident and has been charged with Manslaughter with a Weapon, as revealed in an official statement by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
