Drivers in Arizona will need to adjust their travel plans as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced that the westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between State Route 143 and Interstate 17. The closure, which is slated for 10:00 p.m. Friday through to 10:00 p.m. Saturday, is due to a traffic shift associated with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, as detailed on ADOT's website. Motorists are advised to expect detours and plan their routes accordingly.

The closure will also affect the southbound SR 143 ramp leading to westbound I-10. For those planning to use the westbound I-10 during the closure period, it has been announced that the on-ramps at 40th and 32nd streets will also be shut down from 8:00 p.m. Friday to 10:00 p.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, the on-ramp at Broadway Road will see an extended closure from 8:00 p.m. Friday until 4:00 a.m. Monday further complicates traffic in the area.

A similar situation arises as the westbound US 60 on-ramp at Mill Avenue is also set to be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday. ADOT has suggested a detour route for affected motorists; they advise using eastbound US 60 to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to reconnect with westbound I-10 beyond the site of the closure. As always, ADOT cautions that schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, so it's recommended to check for updates before traveling.

For more information on the closures and to keep abreast with real-time updates, ADOT encourages drivers to download the free mobile app TheCurve or visit the Alerts section of the project website.
