The City of Westerville has officially announced D. Grant Crawford as the new Director of Public Service. He brings over a decade and a half of industry expertise to the role. After his latest stint as the Public Service Director for the City of Powell, he transitioned to the new position, where he managed Engineering and Parks and Recreation.
As a veteran in public works with 17 years under his belt, Crawford's career trajectory started in Gahanna as a Utility Operator before ascending the ranks to become Director of Public Service. His hands-on experience and effective leadership have been highlighted as key to his career advancements.
Crawford's extensive resume includes a Master of Public Administration and Class II licenses in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection from the Environmental Protection Agency, awards that speak to his foundational knowledge and commitment to environmental stewardship.
"I'm honored to join Team Westerville," Crawford said in a statement relayed by the City of Westerville's official website. He acknowledged the personal connection he and his wife hold with the city and his enthusiasm to 'give back' through service, endeavors that Crawford has dedicated the bulk of his professional life to achieving.
When not immersed in public service, Crawford spends his time as a backyard mechanic and relishing in Westerville's local culinary scene, a town that is not just a hub for his new role but a place where he also enjoys grilling produce from the Saturday Farmers Market and exploring local restaurants with his wife.
