A Westlake man, 22, is facing felonious assault charges after a woman was discovered lying in the street with life-threatening injuries early Wednesday morning. The victim is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, as reported by FOX8 News. The Westlake Police Department confirmed that the 25-year-old woman, found at the intersection of Canterbury and Center Ridge Roads, could not communicate what happened to her at the time officers arrived.
Responding to multiple 911 calls around 2:30 a.m., police discovered the woman, who is the suspect's partner, conscious but incoherent with injuries that were assessed as possibly fatal, Westlake Fire Paramedics then transported her to University Hospitals St. John Medical Center where she has been in the intensive care unit since, according to details provided by WKYC.
The tactical response to the incident involved a SWAT team that executed a search warrant at a home on Center Ridge Road in Westlake, which led to the arrest of the suspect, as mentioned by Captain Gerald Vogel of the Westlake Police Department.
