Weymouth Police Department officers were called to a disturbance at a Lindbergh Avenue home late Friday night and the situation quickly escalated into an arrest for multiple offenses. The unwanted visitor, identified as Aurelius Lee McCann and found to have an outstanding warrant, was apprehended, in what police described as a tension-filled but ultimately peaceful resolution.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a tip about an individual refusing to leave a property, it was around 9:24 p.m., according to the police's Facebook post. McCann, a former resident of the area, was not only wanted on warrant but also found to be in violation of gun legislation—caught in possession of a shotgun and ammunition without the proper licenses.
The incident did not result in any injuries or further confrontations. The police executed a search following the arrest, leading to the discovery of the unlicensed weaponry. "McCann does not possess the licenses required to own or possess firearms or ammunition in Massachusetts lawfully," the Weymouth Police Department stated.
Held on $20,000 cash bail, the 56-year-old faces a string of charges including, but not limited to, firearm violation with one prior violent crime, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of both a firearm and ammunition without an FID card. "Mr. McCann was held on $20,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today at Quincy District Court," the police department reported.
