In a move to honor the bravery and sacrifices of fallen firefighters, the White Settlement Fire Department is engaging in the Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters campaign, starting yesterday through May 4. This is the department's inaugural participation in a national tribute that seeks to remember the heroes who have given their lives in the line of duty.
The campaign, which culminates in the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, calls upon both the residents and businesses in the community to light their homes, storefronts, and buildings in red. According to the White Settlement Fire Department from the fire department, the act of lighting up in red is a gesture of solidarity that honors the memory of the firefighters, and the White Settlement Fire Department is eager to see their locale join in and "shine red across all 50 states."
As the community prepares to come together for this commemorative occasion, the White Settlement Fire Department encourages widespread participation. Establishments participating in the tribute can learn more about the campaign and other ways to show support by visiting the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation website provided in their announcement.
