According to PIX 11, the 30-year-old was accosted from behind on the platform of the F train at the East Broadway-Rutgers Street station around 2:30 a.m. The assailant's unspeakable actions involved forcibly pulling down her pants and attempting to rape her as she fled up an escalator, the NYPD detailed.
During her struggle to call for help, the perpetrator compounded the woman’s terror by snatching her cell phone and flinging it aside effectively cutting off any immediate rescue, the suspect then fled the scene, this according to police information and while crimes in subway areas have reportedly decreased, a staggering 20% jump in citywide rape incidents has authorities and citizens deeply concerned as indicated by recent NYPD crime data.
