It's time to break out your duck whistles and inflate your pool toys. The world's largest rubber duck is soon to be bobbing its way back to Pennsylvania. Idlewild & SoakZone has announced that this behemoth of a bath toy, standing a whopping six stories tall, will be on display at their amusement park from June 27 through June 29, marking its grand return to Western Pennsylvania after nearly a 12-year absence. According to a statement reported by WTAE, the park clarified that the duck won't be floating in the wave pool, which is probably for the best, as "no one else would fit"—and instead, the display will be on solid land.
Idlewild & SoakZone has a lot more than just a giant rubber duck in their lineup this summer. They're planning to make quite a splash with a series of events that will have visitors eager to mark their calendars. As revealed in a social media post, the park is gearing up for its opening day on May 17, followed by the commencement of the SoakZone season on May 24. They've also lined up a showcase of music stars on weekends in June and plan to round out the celebratory stretch with a fireworks display for the Fourth of July, none of which could hope to overshadow the truly unique sight of a six-story rubber duck. Ready your phone cameras, folks – Idlewild's Facebook post encourages you to save $30 now by getting a Gold Season Pass for a duck's-eye view of all the festivities.
And the entertainment at Idlewild doesn't stop with Ducky Delight. Gearing up for a packed summer, they've listed even more events, including a classic car cruise on July 6. Plus, a partnership with Fred Rogers Productions is bringing Neighbor Days to the park every weekend from July 11 through August 3. Add to that Kids Fest in August and the park's signature HALLOWBOO! the event comes in fall, and it's clear that the theme park has planned to engage guests with a diverse array of attractions through to the spooky season. The full list can be found on the Idlewild & SoakZone Facebook page.
