A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in Bedford Township, Michigan, after a string of events that included a home invasion and an assault in which he allegedly threatened a homeowner with a stolen handgun. While deputies were searching, they received a 911 call from a nearby residence on Twin Canyon Drive around 5:12 p.m., reporting a break-in at a workshop outbuilding where the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the teenager then threatened the homeowner, per CBS News Detroit, "The victim attempted to take the handgun from the offender and was able to get it away after a brief struggle, only for the offender to then produce a hammer and swing it at the victim," the situation escalated when the teen reportedly pulled out a hammer and swung it at the homeowner after losing control of the handgun.

The Sheriff's Office reports that the resident managed to restrain the teenager until law enforcement arrived, as detailed in a social media post by Monroe County Reporters. Before this encounter, the boy is believed to have committed a home invasion at another residence on Brookside Drive, where the gun used in the Twin Canyon incident had been stolen.
