
An 18-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life in Bellevue last Friday night following a collision with another vehicle. The teen was riding north on 116th Avenue Northeast when the accident occurred at the intersection with Northeast Eighth Street, with Bellevue police confirming the motorcycle was traveling at high speeds, as reported by the Seattle Times.
Witnesses told FOX 13 Seattle the motorcyclist collided with the other vehicle, which was heading westbound through the intersection at the time of the crash; following the incident, emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but were unable to revive the young rider. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries, however is expected to make a full recovery.
According to KING 5, Bellevue Fire crews were on the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased; the involved intersection remained closed for some time as part of the investigative process, but has since been reopened to the public. The other vehicle's driver was reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
Bellevue Police are currently working to put together the sequence of events that led to this fatal collision, and as the investigation unfolds, further details are expected to emerge concerning the factors that contributed to this unfortunate accident.
