An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a pregnant woman in O'Fallon, with the Circuit Attorney's Office levying a slew of charges against a 28-year-old man. According to SLMPD, the individual faces charges for Murder 1st Degree, considering the victim was pregnant, Assault 1st Degree, five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, six counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
As reported yesterday, the homicide investigation revealed that the deceased woman was 35-year-old Christina Lynn Rentchler who lived at the 4100 block of Farlin. Police found the woman inside her residence—dead from a gunshot wound after receiving a call about the shooting at approximately 4:25 p.m. on April 23.
During the same incident, another victim was discovered, a 42-year-old woman, also shot but found conscious and breathing. She received transportation to the hospital for her wounds, her condition unknown at the time of the report. The deadly shooting has spurred Homicide Detectives to search for motives and any other pertinent details.
Authorities are urging the public for assistance, looking for anyone with information about this fatal encounter to come forward. "Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371," as the SLMPD stated.
