Mark your calendars for a day of eclectic vibes and cultural festivities in Riverwest this Sunday, June 1. The Locust Street Festival of Music and Art is making its grand return, bringing together an array of local talent and artisans for the 46th year. Set along Locust Street from North Holton Street to North Humboldt Boulevard, the festival promises a diverse lineup featuring music, art, vendors, food, and plenty of community spirit, as detailed in a recent release from the event organizers.
The festivities are slated to begin bright and early at 11:30 a.m. with the Locust Street Beer Run, a unique 1.6-mile jaunt through the neighborhood peppered with four beer stops for those looking to add a bit of frothy fun to their run. Alderman Alex Brower will be on hand to set the runners off on their spirited sprint, as sponsored by Black Husky Brewing. Throughout the day, attendees can expect to soak in tunes from four separate live music stages, along with an impressive showcase of goods from local vendors and artists. The festival will wind down at 8 p.m., capping off a full day of revelry.
The sense of communal pride is palpable with Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and Alex Brower, representatives of Riverwest, both expressing their excitement for the return of this beloved neighborhood tradition.
