A fatal pedestrian accident occurred yesterday in DeLand, Florida, when a 64-year-old man was hit by a car while walking along New York Avenue. According to WFTV, the man was attempting to cross near the intersection of Blue Lake Avenue but was not within a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. The incident occurred around 2:12 a.m., and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle involved, a Honda Civic, was traveling from Blue Lake Avenue on State Road 44, also known as New York Avenue, when the collision happened. The driver, a 21-year-old man from DeLand, and the passenger, a 24-year-old also from DeLand, were reported to be unharmed and cooperated with authorities by remaining on the scene, as reported by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
