
A hiker was rescued from the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala last Saturday, after the Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 9:04 a.m. The department quickly dispatched six units, consisting of 17 personnel, to assist the hiker, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
First responders arrived at the scene by 9:11 a.m. and began hiking to locate the injured individual. A second unit set up a landing zone nearby for air evacuation. The 70-year-old male hiker was reported to be ill and unable to return down the trail without assistance, as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department.
At 9:28 a.m., Honolulu Fire Department personnel located a hiker and provided basic life support before airlifting him to a secure landing zone. The man was airlifted to a pre-secured landing zone. At 9:43 a.m., care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services, who took over his treatment.
