An elderly McKeesport man faces multiple charges after allegedly trying to lure a teenager into his truck in Westmoreland County, officials said. Thomas Gibala, 82, was accused by police of approaching a 16-year-old girl walking on Main Street in North Huntingdon Township beneath Veterans Bridge. According to WPXI, Gibala allegedly offered the teen a ride, which she declined, and proceeded to ask for directions before making a second offer and a sexual advance.

After the advance was refused, Gibala reportedly left the scene heading toward Irwin. The investigation led by North Huntingdon police involved the use of license plate readers to track down the suspect’s yellow pickup truck. "The teen was able to identify him out of a photo lineup," as detailed by the WPXI report. When questioned by detectives, according to CBS News Pittsburgh, they said he "admitted to talking to the teenager and making sexual advances."

Charges against Gibala include luring a child into a motor vehicle, corruption of minors, harassment, and disorderly conduct. These allegations reflect not just a breach of law but an unsettling disregard for the vulnerability of youth and the sanctity of personal autonomy. A preliminary hearing, as court documents indicate, is scheduled for June 27.
