The HarborChase of Dr. Phillips assisted living facility in Southwest Orlando became the site of an unsettling assault after an intruder allegedly entered the home of a 90-year-old resident and attacked her. As reported by WFTV, during the hours of 7 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the man reportedly knocked the elderly woman down and attempted to suffocate her with her clothes.

Neighbors and residents of the facility have been left in a state of shock and fear, questioning the facility's security level. "It just frightens the living daylights, how did he get in and into someone’s apartment," a resident voiced in a statement detailed by WFTV. Former employee Stuart Avvanpato mentioned to the same publication that security at HarborChase wasn’t very extensive, noting the lack of security guards.

According to WESH, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has taken measures to investigate this alarming incident, urging the local community to provide any doorbell camera footage that may have captured the trespasser between the times of the event. The HarborChase management group has responded to the incident, claiming to provide transparent reporting to aid in the investigation's resolution, while emphasizing the safety of their residents and associates as their top priority.

As the search for the suspect continues, FOX 35 Orlando reported that the local sheriff's office has yet to release a description of the assailant or how entry was gained.
