A tragic incident unfolded in Gaston County this past weekend, when a house fire claimed the lives of two individuals. The fire occurred yesterday morning on the 4300 block of Old Lincolnton Road, near the Lincoln County line. Both victims perished after their residence became engulfed in flames, though their names have not yet been released to the public, as per QC News' report.
Initial reports did not elaborate on the cause of the blaze, which required investigation by local officials. It was the front and left side of the house that emergency responders found "fully engulfed" in flames, after the fire originally was sparked by a heating lamp that caused the deadly fire in Gaston County, WBTV states. Responders swiftly arrived at the scene around 10:10 a.m. and extinguished the flames but, tragically, could not save the two individuals found inside.
Further clarity on the catastrophe came when officials concluded that the fire was indeed accidental. In a statement obtained by the Charlotte Observer, the Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services confirmed that a heating lamp on the home's front porch was where the fire originated. This detail settles the questions surrounding the cause of the event that ultimately took two lives.
The community is mourning the loss of a 78-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who, officials said, were the deceased in the incident.
