Akron police are actively searching for a man accused of a shooting that left two people injured earlier this month outside an Akron party center. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Bikash Tamang, is wanted on charges including felonious assault and improper handling of firearms, according to a statement from the Akron Police Department reported by WKYC.
The incident occurred at the Royal Palace, located at 134 E. Tallmadge Ave, on May 3. Authorities were called to the venue over a disturbance involving an unwanted person. As officers confronted the individual, Tamang allegedly fired several shots into a crowd from a vehicle in the parking lot, WKYC reports. The gunfire resulted in a 19-year-old male sustaining a leg injury, who was then treated by officers at the scene before being hospitalized. Another unnamed person was later reported to a local hospital with related injuries, the Akron Beacon Journal detailed.
Described as an Asian male standing 5-foot-7 and weighing around 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, Tamang should be considered "armed and dangerous," per the Akron police. Lieutenant Michael Murphy emphasized the gravity of the situation in a press release, “The shooting at Royal [Palace] is another reminder of how gun violence threatens the safety of our community,” and appealed to the public for aid in locating Tamang, as recounted by FOX8.
