A chaotic car chase unfolded through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, after a man allegedly stole a pickup truck and led police on a pursuit that spanned three towns. According to NBC Boston, the vehicle, towing a trailer carrying competitive crew boats, was taken from Arlington and was reportedly involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes.
The chase started in Arlington, went through Belmont, and concluded with a crash in Cambridge. "The truck, which it was learned had been reported stolen to the Arlington Police, was said to have been involved in several hit & run crashes at multiple locations resulting in non-life-threatening injuries and significant property damage," the Cambridge Police Department shared in a social media post. A Cambridge police officer, caught up in the mayhem was taken to a local hospital for treatment but has since been released, as detailed by NBC Boston.
Last night's incident, witnesses were taken aback by the sight of the stolen white pickup careening through their neighborhoods. One resident, Nick Goodhue, recounted to WCVB, "I open up my window and see a giant truck that hits that sign and keeps driving up this way, and a boat is left in the street, a 40-foot rowing boat."
The driver, a resident of Arlington, whose name has not yet been released is expected to face charges as a consequence of the incident. Cambridge police informed the public that in addition to the officer, two other individuals sustained minor injuries during the collisions. The club members witnessed the suspect jump into the truck and drive onto a bike path, triggering the unexpected police chase.
