The Missouri Department of Transportation, alongside Vance Brothers, Inc., is rolling up their sleeves for the next phase of their asphalt refurbishment of Andrew County Route D. Motorists can expect to hit some brakes as this stretch from Route DD to Clinton County Route K is given a facelift beginning yesterday through Saturday, as reported by MoDOT.
Traffic within this zone will be trimmed down to a single lane, with a pilot car shepherding vehicles through the construction ballet. It's not the lead role drivers are used to, but flaggers will be on hand at intersections to ensure everyone knows their part. With a deadline stretching to December 2026, this production is set to continue across several more routes including Andrew/Buchanan counties Route W and Buchanan County Route H, among others.
The effort is more than the swing of orange cones and the hum of machinery; this project touches the daily lives of countless commuters and residents. The MoDOT has taken steps to minimize disruptions, but all work is contingent on the sky's whims and may be rescheduled if the weather decides not to cooperate. Updates will be tacked onto the Traveler Information Map and also in the weekly press release which can be found through signing up for MoDOT E-Updates.
In the past weeks, routes like Atchison County Route V and Nodaway County Route B have already navigated through the tremors of renovation. MoDOT's traveler map is where updates play leapfrog, jumping on as projects progress and others conclude. The map is an essential tool for drivers plotting their course around the slow dance of progress. "Project schedule updates will be provided on the Traveler Information Map and on the Planned Roadwork for Northwest Missouri press release sent out each Friday afternoon," reads a recent update from MoDOT.
