Captain Anthony Branchini will serve as acting chief of the Henderson Police Department starting in June. His appointment follows the upcoming retirement of Acting Chief Itzhak Henn, who is stepping down after 26 years of service. Henderson City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause confirmed Branchini’s temporary appointment.
Branchini, who has served in the department for 26 years, has been named acting chief following Henn’s upcoming departure. He is the second interim leader since former Chief Holly Chadwick was fired in March. According to News 3 LV, Garcia-Vause said selecting a captain for the interim role “ensures a fair recruitment process for the permanent Chief position,” as Deputy Chiefs are also candidates.
The City of Henderson will close its application process for a new police chief on May 12, after receiving a "significant number of applications." Captain Branchini is serving as acting chief during the selection process. The city stated, "Selecting a Captain ensures the recruitment process for the Chief remains fair and equitable, given that the Deputy Chiefs are eligible to apply," as reported by FOX5 Vegas. The new chief is expected to be announced this summer.
