Arlington residents needing tools for a quick fix-up at home are in for some good news. The City of Arlington's Tool Sharing Program is expanding, providing locals with free equipment for various home and garden tasks. Initially launched in 2021, the program has seen nearly 5,000 tool loans, indicating a high demand among the community for such a resource. With the addition of a second trailer, Arlington dwellers can now borrow anything from lawn mowers and hedge trimmers to drills and levels to get their projects done.
According to an article by the City of Arlington, the expanded program offers more than simple hand tools. Having added safety gear to their toolbox, residents need no longer worry about the nitty-gritty of yard maintenance and home repair tasks. The program's goal is to help maintain the city's aesthetics by providing the tools necessary for homeowners to take charge of their spaces without the financial strain.
Residents looking to borrow tools can select up to four items from the Mowing and Yard Maintenance or Household and Fence Repair categories. "The Tool Sharing Program is a community-focused service designed to support our residents in maintaining and beautifying their properties," said Program Coordinator Ron McCall in a statement detailed by the City of Arlington. Tools can be kept for up to three business days, with deliveries and pickups scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Suppose tools are dropped off on a Monday. In that case, they will be collected on a Wednesday, having introduced a smooth system to ensure equipment is both delivered and returned efficiently, McCall explained. Arlington residents must provide proof of residency, such as a water bill or government-issued identification, to access the tools available.
