The latest scoop on the greens is that two of Arlington's very own have swung their way onto the leaderboard for Texas' top public golf courses, a clear nod to the city's rising status in the golf world. As the City of Arlington's official news release reported, Tierra Verde and Texas Rangers Golf Club just landed on the Dallas Morning News' coveted list, ranking at No. 28 and No. 29, respectively.
The competition for these spots was no gentle putt, both clubs had to impress an 81-strong conglomeration of golf pros, architects, superintendents, industry insiders, and avid golfers who all assessed them on a 10-point scale accounting for versatility, shotmaking, design, afterthoughts, beauty, maintenance, and the ever-subjective 'enjoyment,' in a process described in the official news release. Adding another feather in their caps, AvidGolfer Magazine has also featured both Tierra Verde and Texas Rangers Golf Club in its Top 5 of DFW Public Course Rankings, coming in at No. 5 and No. 2, respectively, proof that when it comes to golf in North Texas, Arlington's the place to tee off.
In addition to the recognition, the Texas Rangers Golf Club also hosted this year's Veritex Bank Championship, bringing in pro golfers from across the globe and spotlighting Arlington as the exclusive PGA Korn Ferry Tour stop in the Lone Star State.
