As the clock ticks toward the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup™, Arlington is calling on its residents to roll up their sleeves for a community-wide Lake Arlington Cleanup happening on June 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This environmental initiative emerges as part of a coordinated regional effort to embrace the sustainability goals that align with the international sports spectacle, announced the City of Arlington.
The cleanup crusade, designed to bolster the city's aesthetic and ecological appeal before playing host to nine World Cup matches next year, includes two designated sites for residents to contribute their efforts. The Arlington cleanup will take place at the 4500 block of Enchanted Bay Blvd., while its neighbor, Fort Worth, is taking action at Eugene McCray Park & Wildcat Branch, located at 3440 Quail Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76119, as reported by the City of Arlington.
Volunteers keen on making a difference have until 11:59 p.m. on June 6 to register their participation. It's not all work with no perks, though. Those registering by the deadline will be decked out in a special FIFA t-shirt for their environmental goodwill. Participants will also be equipped with all the necessary gear to tackle the trash, along with snacks and water to keep their energy levels high. Required for participation is a completed registration form that must include emergency contact information and a liability release.
