Foremost on the list, and intended for those 50 years and older, is a classic 8-Ball pool tournament at the ACTIV center on Friday, June 13, to celebrate Father's Day. From 9-11 AM, dads and pool players of varying skill levels will enjoy some friendly rivalry with an entry fee of just $2 for members and $4 for non-members. The Beacon's splash pad will simultaneously host Splash Tales, a program that pairs interactive storytelling with water-themed fun, free for children and their families starting at 10:00 AM. Both events offer an early start for those looking to beat the midday heat.
Friday, June 20, will be jam-packed, featuring two distinct events: the Summer Solstice Yoga from 6-7:30 PM and the Friday Night Splash Party from 6-9 PM at The Beacon's splash pad. The yoga event, suitable for those 15 and up, rings in at $10 a head and promises a mix of exercise and relaxation outdoors. Come evening, families and friends are invited to unwind under the stars, with no cost to enter, and enjoy the splash pad accompanied by music and food trucks.
The Saturday following, on June 21, Howard Moore Play Pool opens its gates from 9-11 AM for Sensory Swim, an experience crafted specifically for children with special needs, their caregivers, and families. The event, allowing a snug 40 participants, aims to provide a conducive and enjoyable swimming environment. Each person looking to attend must register, with places costing $3 per individual. The arrangement ensures a controlled environment for an audience seeking a tailored swimming session.
