It's construction galore in Arlington, as the city churned out permits left and right in the first quarter of the year. A report from the horse's mouth—the City's own Quarterly Development Profile—shows that over 1,000 permits have been issued for various residential development projects. This activity spanned nine yards, from new single-family and multi-family homes to remodels and additions.
Relying on data provided by Arlington’s Department of Planning & Development Services, the details of the boom are not lost on those keeping tabs. In Q1 alone, the city put the final stamp on 87 single-family and 56 multi-family housing units, according to a statement from the City of Arlington. These additions bring the totals to a hefty 106,459 single-family and 52,537 multi-family units currently standing within the bounds of what's affectionately dubbed The American Dream City.
While the numbers are indeed hefty, they reflect more than just stats—they mirror the growing demand for space in Arlington. The increase in development activities hints at a broader trajectory towards extensive urban growth and the challenge of keeping up with an expanding population. The City's own Long-Range Planning page is teeming with previous reports for those hungry to compare and contrast trends over time.
