In a shocking revelation by the Austin Police Department (APD) and in conjunction with the Texas Funeral Services Commission (TFSC) and other state agencies, two individuals have been named as suspects in an abuse of corpse case at Capital Mortuary Services (CMS), as per a recent announcement. The investigation into the matter began following a whistleblower’s complaint, alleging fraudulent use of his identity to sign death certificates and unauthorized embalming procedures.

APD disclosed that on March 10, a former embalmer raised concerns about his credentials being used without his knowledge at CMS. These included his signature being forged on death certificates and his unwitting involvement in “experiments” on decedents' arms, undertaken by Adeline Bui, as highlighted in a detailed press release. The initial tip-off led detectives to discover a so-called “Freedom Art Experiment”, involving disturbing images of severed limbs and discussions about tissue decomposition.

Adeline Bui, after being questioned, admitted to using the complainant's identity and forgeries to handle state filings required for decedent processing. According to APD's evidence, she claimed she "had to put someone’s name in", and the former employee was available in the system. In conjunction with these allegations, investigators found Bui tied to 129 fraudulent death certificates and 15 unauthorized experiments with human remains, although these are treated as separate incidents by authorities.

Further complicating the case, MedtoMarket's involvement came to light when Bui stated that the procedures were performed at their behest. MedtoMarket CEO Aaron Ali, despite denying the activities were "experiments", confirmed his company's instructions to observe preserved limbs, a claim that contradicted his sworn testimony before the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. Given the discrepancy, the CEO faces charges of aggravated perjury and abuse of a human corpse. "We understand the deep trust that families place in those who care for their loved ones after death," said Detective Brice Bishop in a statement released by the Austin Police Department, outlining their commitment to a meticulous investigation.

The Austin Police Department, while ensuring the public that there is no immediate danger, is extending support to those who have used CMS's services and urges former employees or anyone with information to come forward. Their call for information and the official statement affirm a dedication to transparency and justice in the ongoing case. As the investigation proceeds, both Bui and Ali have been released on bond and await further legal processing.
