A four-year-old boy with autism was tragically found dead in a pond at the Mission Bay Apartments in Rockledge, Brevard County, after being reported missing this morning, as per reports from local law enforcement. FOX 35 Orlando detailed that the child was reported missing around 8:30 a.m., and his body was discovered in the water by aviation units approximately 50 minutes later.
The WFTV report suggests that the initial missing person report triggered a swift response from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. The boy's mother had made a panicked call after the child had unlocked the door to their home and was believed to have wandered out. In a statement detailed by FOX 35 Orlando, officials stated, "Once they're in the water — if they don't know how to swim — it usually doesn't turn out very well."
Currently, the name of the boy and his parents have not been released as the investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding the boy's death is still ongoing. The pond, where the body was found, is located behind the apartment complex off Murrell Road, where the boy lived.
