A Baltimore County Public Schools middle school teacher is facing a series of grave charges after allegedly committing multiple sex offenses and assaults on school grounds. According to WMAR-2 News, Roger Myers, 61, is now being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He was taken into custody by detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit.
The accusations detail that Myers' conduct, which led to the charges, occurred while he served as a physical education teacher at Deep Creek Middle School. Employed by the school district since 1996, Myers began his tenure at Deep Creek in July 2024. Despite the arrest, initially, it was unclear which school Myers was associated with. However, it was during the unrelated investigation, where Myers had already been on administrative leave since February 2025, that the current allegations surfaced.
Another layer to this emerging scandal was revealed by WBAL-TV, reporting that online documents indicate Myers faces multiple sex offenses and two counts of second-degree assault. Some students described instances where Myers made inappropriate comments about their appearance, and another claimed they received an unwanted hug. Previous to these allegations at Deep Creek, Myers had been the subject of complaints by 12 children while teaching at Holabird Middle School.
The community has been shaken by the unsettling turn of events, prompting authorities to call upon anyone with further information or who believes themselves a victim to step forward. The principal's letter included a resource to aid in discussing child abuse. It implored the community to report additional information or concerns to the Baltimore County Police Department's Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720 or the Department of Social Services at 410-887-8463.
