Residents of Beaverton and other interested individuals have an opportunity to engage with city staff about the upcoming 205th Avenue Project. Taking place on Thursday, May 15, an open house at L. C. Tobias Elementary School will allow community members to discuss the plans and share their perspectives. This event, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., is a chance to learn more about the substantial infrastructure improvements slated for the area involving 205th Avenue from Baseline Road to Quatama Street.
Among the key enhancements set to take place as part of the project, the 205th Avenue bridge over Beaverton Creek is due for replacement. According to Washington County's announcement, improvements will also include the installation of sidewalks, buffered bike lanes, and streetlights. In addition, a center turn lane and retaining walls are to be constructed, the straining walls, are part and parcel of the endeavor to foster a safer thoroughfare for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Enhanced stormwater drains and treatment facilities round out the list of scheduled infrastructure upgrades.
It's important to note that the upcoming open house is a drop-in event, with no formal presentation planned. This format is intentional, designed to facilitate easier conversations between the community and the staff, ensuring that everyone's questions can be addressed directly and promptly. The project, facilitated by funding through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP 3e, MSTIP 3f) and the Transportation Development Tax, marks a notable investment in the region's urban framework.
Construction is expected to kick off in 2026 and stretch through to 2028. Residents looking for additional details have multiple resources at their disposal. They may visit the dedicated project page, dial 503-846-7822 for voice inquiries, or send an email to the managing team.
