Early this morning, a grim discovery was made at San Antonio's Woodlawn Lake. The San Antonio Fire Department confirmed their involvement in "assisting in a body recovery" at the popular west-side lake, as reported by KENS 5. Officials were summoned to the scene following reports of a drowning before 8 a.m.

Passersby had noticed the body floating in the water, prompting them to alert authorities. According to the SAFD Battalion Chief David Prado, the body retrieved was that of a male, and it is presumed he was washed from the recent storms, which FOX San Antonio later clarified might have washed further upstream. When first responders arrived, the retrieval of the body, which was void of identification, immediately followed. The length of time the man had been in the water remains unknown.

Further investigation into the cause of the man's death is currently underway. The condition and identification of the deceased will be the focus of an examination by the Bexar County Medical Examiner. This latest occurrence is not isolated, as Woodlawn Lake has been the site where two other bodies were found earlier this year in March and April.

An autopsy is expected to be carried out, following the transfer of the body to the medical examiner's custody. Police suggested that the individual might have been homeless, given the absence of any personal identification. The authorities have not given any indication of how the man came to his end or the time he had spent in the water prior to being discovered.
