The city has announced several closures and service changes for the holiday on Memorial Day, May 26th. According to the City of Boulder, city administrative facilities and Age Well Centers will take a day off. But not all is at a standstill. The North Boulder Recreation Center will be open from 1:30 to 6 p.m., adjusted for the BOLDERBoulder race. Scott Carpenter Pool is set to welcome swimmers in both lap lanes and leisure pool areas from 1 to 6 p.m., and Spruce Pool follows similarly timed availability.

While East Boulder Community Center and South Boulder Recreation Center will keep their doors shut, Boulder Reservoir will be teeming with life from the crack of dawn to evening, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the designated swim area accessible from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Golfers can also rejoice; sunshine or cloud cover, Flatirons Golf Course is ready to host them from sunrise until the day's light fades. Nature lovers can still find solace in the open trails and trailheads, maintained by Open Space and Mountain Parks. A visit to OSMPTrails.org is recommended to help efficiently plan your excursion.

For those concerned about parking, there's a bit of serendipity amidst the closures, parking is complimentary on city streets and in all city-owned lots and downtown garages on the 26th. However, keep your wallet handy at Chautauqua Park, as paid parking remains in effect. For further details, the city's Parking Guide is a click away. And to alleviate some of the transportation hassles brought on by the holiday's festivities, the city is rolling out its free Park-to-Park shuttle beginning Saturday, May 24th, with a route tweak this year, it's Broadway, not 9th Street, that'll stay in effect until Labor Day, September 1.
