Brighton police have reported the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing earlier this month. This development concerns the incident that took place on May 15th in the 3000 block of Bridge St., as confirmed by the Brighton Police Department.
Last week's efforts by the Brighton Police Detectives culminated in the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office taking on the case, which resulted in an arrest warrant issued for Johnny Jose Moreno, 52, on the charge of 1st Degree Murder. Working with the Aurora Police Department, the suspect found himself in cuffs early Friday morning, May 23, according to the Brighton Police Department.
In a released statement, Chief Domenico declared, "Acts of violence like this have no place in our community. We extend our sympathies to the victim’s family. We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of our investigations team, along with our partners with Aurora Police Department in safely taking this suspect into custody,” as per the Brighton Police Department. The Brighton community has been on edge following the violent event, and this arrest brings a measure of relief to the tension that had gripped the area.
