
A young man's life has ended following a shooting incident at a Bronx playground, authorities reported an unfolding investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 21-year-old Irvin Provitt. Found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head in Crotona Park insights obtained from law enforcement suggest the incident took place around 12:45 p.m. yesterday near East 173rd Street, according to ABC7 New York.
Local residents described the aftermath of the incident, with Willie Morales noting the immediate effect on the community, telling ABC7 New York, "I saw all the kids running," his account states that children left their scooters behind and ran up the block to seek safety as the incident unfolded. Despite appeals to authorities for enhanced security, residents like Rosemarie Green experience persistent unease, she expressed, "They drink, they smoke, and they have guns. I'm afraid sometimes to even come out of my apartment."
As the investigation continues, law enforcement is working to identify and locate two individuals seen fleeing the scene. Emergency services confirmed that the victim, identified as Provitt, was pronounced dead at the location. PIX11 reported that efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing.
