Broward Health Coral Springs has earned an "A" grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that rates hospitals on safety. This top mark means safer care for patients in Broward County. This grade, as reported by TAPinto, puts the spotlight on the hospital's commitment to preventing harm to its patients and dealing effectively with a range of safety issues.
Leapfrog’s grading system looks at more than 30 safety measures, including infection rates and how well hospitals prevent mistakes, key factors patients count on during recovery. As the Broward Health news release states, these grades are a serious business with updates twice each year, in the spring and fall, meaning the hospitals have to stay on their A-game all year round.
It's not just Coral Springs bathing in the glow of a good report card—Broward Health North can also pin another "A" to its wall, marking the third consecutive time they’ve received top marks for hospital safety. Matthew K. Garner, CEO of Broward Health North, put it succinctly when he expressed pride in his team: "Earning an 'A' for the third consecutive time shines a spotlight on the incredible dedication of our team at Broward Health North," he said, “Every team member plays an important role in building a culture of safety and excellence. We are proud to be nationally recognized for our commitment to the highest standards of patient care,” as noted by the same news release.
The hospital staff, from surgeons to janitors, are the real MVPs here, with CEO Kristen Bowman of Broward Health Coral Springs stating, "This recognition reflects the tireless dedication of our physicians, nurses and staff who are committed to patient safety each and every day," according to Broward Health.
