A Burbank Catholic school gym teacher, Dimitri Altobar, 33, has been arrested on allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a child, the Burbank Police Department reported. KTLA states that the teacher was taken into custody last Wednesday, suspected of conducting lewd acts with a minor, with the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filing five counts against him.
The allegations indicate that the teacher, entrusted in a position of authority, engaged in misconduct with a student at St. Francis Xavier School. ABC7 reports Altobar has since been placed on administrative leave, and the incident is still under investigation. St. Francis Xavier School, which educates children from kindergarten to 8th grade, has remained silent on the arrest, and Altobar's school profile was removed shortly after his arrest.
The Burbank Police initiated a weekslong investigation before the arrest, which led to the current charges. Booking reports show that Altobar is being held on $100,000 bail, with his court appearance scheduled for last Friday.
