CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit released a video showing an airtanker responding to a vegetation fire. The unit stated the importance of following fire prevention measures due to the risk of wildfires in the area, as reported by the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit.
CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit issued a reminder about fire safety rules. Debris burns require a permit and are only allowed on approved days. Burn piles must have a 10-foot bare-soil clearance, be kept small, and be attended at all times. Water and a shovel should be on hand. Equipment must have spark arresters and be maintained. Mowing should be done before 10 a.m. and avoided in hot, dry, or windy conditions. Vehicles should not be parked or driven on dry grass. A fire extinguisher or water source should be available in fire-prone areas.
According to the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit on their Facebook page, while aircraft such as airtankers are important for stopping wildfires, fire prevention remains the priority. “These aircraft are needed to stop dangerous fires in their tracks — not ones that could have been prevented,” the unit stated. CAL FIRE is urging the public to follow safety guidelines and take measures to reduce fire risk, as fire seasons in California become longer and more frequent.
