With previous seasons treading water due to a lack of lifeguards, this year's announcement signals a resurgence of splashes and smiles at one of Union County’s cherished escapes.
The beach, limited to daylight hours, will beckon families starting at 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on weekends, lifeguards willing. Park officials are recommending eager sun-seekers to get a jump on the day and arrive early to maximize their fun under the sun. Pending lifeguard availability, the early bird gets the wave, as the expression goes.
Adding a layer of leisure to the beach outing, the campground beach will also grace visitors with its presence this Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. "We’re thrilled to open the beach for Memorial Day Weekend this year," Parks & Recreation Director Jim Chaffin was quoted by the Union County website. The beach then shifts gears to a Friday and Saturday schedule, riding the summer wave.
