The ambitious seniors of Canutillo High School surpassed expectations, securing a cumulative total of over $71 million in scholarships as they marked their graduation. The Don Haskins Center played host to their commencement ceremony, where a blend of pride and accomplishment filled the air.

Representing a significant milestone for the school, this year's graduates set a new record with their scholarship haul. Among them, Matthew Medina, the valedictorian, boasts an impressive $1.5 million in offers from several prestigious institutions, including MIT, Johns Hopkins, and Case Western Reserve University, according to Canutillo ISD. "This feels great. After all four years of hard work, it has come to this," Medina told Canutillo ISD, his eyes set on a future in computer science at MIT come fall.

Furthermore, Benjamin Melendez, alongside Medina, was recognized as a QuestBridge Finalist, securing a Match Scholarship to Colby College valued at around $250,000. Not to be overshadowed, TJ Locklin received a fully funded ROTC scholarship with a value reaching up to $200,000, affirming the diverse success of the Canutillo High cohort.

Canutillo High School's principal, Candice Marrufo, could not contain her admiration for the Class of 2025: "Every year our students amaze us, but the Class of 2025 has truly raised the bar," as per Canutillo ISD. She credits their achievements to not only the students' dedication but also the solidarity of educators and the Canutillo community. Salutatorian Jalen Delgado ascribes his preparation for the future to the rigorous and supportive environment that Canutillo High provided. Delgado is on his way to the University of Texas at Austin to pursue aerospace engineering and eventually, a career as a commercial pilot.
