The Ohio Department of Transportation's District 1 revealed the victors of its Paint-the-Plow contest, where area students brandished their artistic talent on a canvas seldom celebrated – the broad, hulking side of a snow plow. This year, driving away with the People's Choice Award is Carey High School of Wyandot County, whose design features K9 Nigel and the safety slogan, "Paws and Follow the Laws." According to the Ohio Department of Transportation's District 1,  in a recent announcement, the endearing depiction fetched 888 likes, shares, and comments on Facebook – a clear winner among social media spectators.

Not to be overshadowed, Fort Jennings High School from Putnam County soared with their patriotic eagle, clinching the ODOT Choice award. It nailed a second-place finish in the public's eye with an impressive 521 votes. Both schools demonstrated a flair for combining art with utility, transforming the ordinary snow plow into something of a roving mural that underscores community spirit and engagement.

Among the younger set, a sweet rendition came from the Mohawk Preschool class. Their contribution featured drawings and handprints which resonated with Facebook users, raking in 501 votes and earning a charming third place in the social media standings.

Ada High School in Hancock County and Fairview High School in Defiance County didn't leave the competition empty-handed, staking their claim as the runners-up in the ODOT Choice category. It's a tie that showcases the competitive spirit and artistic abilities across the schools in the district. Each school, no matter its final ranking, has lent a creative touch to the otherwise stark machinery that battles winter's worst, making the snowy season a bit more vibrant.
