The 2nd Friday Art Walk is set to adorn the streets of downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill this Friday, and art enthusiasts are gearing up for an evening of cultural immersion. Scheduled for Friday, the event invites locals and visitors to explore art galleries, artist studios, and various businesses showcasing creative works alongside live music and spoken word poetry performances.
According to the Town of Carrboro's official announcement, the Art Walk will spill its offerings across various venues, most of which will hang their shingles out from late afternoon into the evening. For art aficionados and the curious, the Carrboro Town Hall and the Drakeford Library Complex will specifically be open from 6 to 8 p.m., hosting exhibitions waiting to be taken in.
The 2nd Friday Art Walk includes a variety of local venues, each participating with its own selection of artistic displays. Ackland Art Museum, The ArtsCenter, and FRANK Gallery are among the featured locations, offering visitors a chance to engage with art in spaces that are part of the community's regular activity. Local businesses such as The Beehive Salon, My Muses Card Shop, and Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe will also host artworks during the event.
In addition to traditional galleries, the Art Walk features exhibits in less conventional spaces like the Peel Gallery + Photo Lab and The Wallflower Gallery. These, along with the North Carolina Crafts Gallery and Content Matters, are part of the broader effort to showcase creative work throughout Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
