The Chandler community is tipping its hats to the trailblazing women who shaped the Western spirit of their town. The Chandler Museum has just swung open its doors to the "Pony Up! Cowgirls of Chandler" exhibition, which will continue to rope in visitors until November 2.

The exhibition, housed in the museum's Price Gallery, offers a personal peek into the lives of the cowgirls who called Chandler home. A collection of artifacts, photographs, and stories pays homage to their influence on ranches, in rodeos, and across the desert landscapes. It's an honest look at the tough, often overlooked, female pioneers who contributed just as much as the men to the narrative of the West.

Jody Crago, Chandler Museum Director, proudly pointed out the exhibition's significance in a statement: "We’re thrilled to share more of Chandler’s early history and to honor women like Martha Knox and Ruth Pew, whose contributions were vital to the town’s cultural and economic development." The exhibit not only spotlights these heritage heroes but also aims to deepen the understanding of Chandler's evolution from its Wild West days to the modern era.

Free admission means there's no excuse not to saddle up and head on over to 300 S. Chandler Village Drive. Open hours are cordial for the casual visitor, with doors unlocked Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; just remember it's closed on Mondays. For more information, visit the Chandler Museum website or give them a ring at 480-782-2717.
