
Early Saturday morning, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department began a homicide investigation in the Steele Creek Division after an assault left one person dead. Officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 500 block of Branch Way Court around 3 a.m. They found a victim with a gunshot wound, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit, with support from Crime Scene Search, is investigating the case and collecting evidence. Assistance is being provided by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be shared by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Public Affairs Office. Detective Buhr is leading the investigation.

The incident, with report number 20250503-0322-00, is being investigated by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
