The search is on in Charlotte after a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and possibly kidnapped in an unsettling incident late Wednesday night, and now the authorities are turning to the community for help. According to a press release by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the event unfolded just before 10:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of Toddville Road, where witnesses reported seeing a vehicle hit the woman before she was forcefully removed from the scene by a male suspect.
The situation escalated after the involved vehicle, described as a gold sport utility vehicle with notable front-end damage, was seen striking a utility box and pole which prompted a temporary road closure. Witnesses offered a description of the suspect, indicating he is a Hispanic male with short hair and a muscular build, a detail that paints a picture of urgency in a situation layered with unanswered questions and the pressing need for swift action.
Details emerging from the CMPD paint the victim as a young Hispanic woman, likely aged between 18-25, with black shoulder-length hair, last seen wearing a white shirt and black shorts. With her safety of immediate concern, detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The CMPD's Homicide Unit is leading the charge in this ongoing investigation, though at this time it is still unclear if the victim knew the suspect or the nature of her current condition; however, authorities are urgently calling for any sightings of the victim or the gold SUV to be reported to Detective Haulsee, the lead on the case.
