Charlotte residents can expect a mostly sunny weekend with ideal temperatures for outdoor activities, as per the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service. The city greeted the day with a few clouds and a cool temperature of 59°F early this morning, setting the stage for what the NWS predicts to be a pleasant day with highs reaching near 77°F. The west northwest winds could provide a light breeze, reaching speeds of 5 to 11 mph and featuring gusts as high as 20 mph.
As night falls, the skies are expected to remain mostly clear with temperatures dipping to a comfortable 54°F. The NWS points out that the calm North wind blowing at a gentle pace of 3 to 6 mph will accompany Charlotteans into their Saturday, which will mirror today's sunny disposition with a high again near 77°F. Saturday evening ushers in a slight chance of showers after 2 am amidst partly cloudy skies and a low around 59°F. However, the probability of precipitation is placed at a modest 20 percent.
The forecast takes a turn on Sunday when the chances of showers increase, particularly before 11 am, then again with a potential for showers and thunderstorms around noon followed by more showers in the afternoon. Yet even with this, the NWS maintains that this day will be partly sunny with a high near 78°F. The northeast winds will remain light and shift direction in the afternoon.
Looking ahead to Memorial Day and the early days of next week, the likelihood of showers goes up significantly. The NWS forecasts a 50 percent chance of rainfall on Memorial Day, with highs nearing 76°F. Showers become more likely Monday night with a 70 percent chance, and the pattern continues into Tuesday with similar odds for rain.
