In a gesture that underscores the community’s commitment to inclusivity, the Clarksville City Council honored a cadre of Parks and Recreation employees for their pioneering efforts in adaptive programming. The regular session that took place on Thursday was marked by an acknowledgement of the team’s dedication to fostering accessible recreational activities for all residents of Clarksville.

The initiative that garnered this recognition was an adaptive needs roundtable group, spearheaded by Tina Boysha, Herman Brown, Penny Green, Ereka Clark, Autumn Griffin, and Kim Gilbert; their collective efforts have been instrumental in the expansion of accessible and inclusive recreational options, an endeavor that Councilman Brian Zacharias deemed critical for community acknowledgment.

According to a statement from the publication on Friday made by the City of Clarksville, Zacharias presented the Parks and Recreation staff with certificates of appreciation, stating, “When I see members of the Parks & Rec team doing some of the things that they are doing for our community, it is incredibly important to me that we recognize them.”

The Director of Parks and Recreation, Jennifer Letourneau praised the recipients, acknowledging the group’s diligent response to community needs and their continuous efforts to innovate, saying, “They’ve done a phenomenal job. They saw the need in the community, they worked with their community members to make it happen and every day, they surprise me with the new things that they come up with and the incredible work that they do.” These endeavors highlight the city’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in public services and recreation.
