Summer in Cleveland is about to get a little sweeter, as the city's Fire Department is gearing up for its annual Ice Cream Social Season. According to a recent social media post from Cleveland Fire, the popular community event is coming back with its first gathering scheduled for Saturday, June 14, at Station 4, known locally as the home of the Tasmanian Devils.
The first event will take place adjacent to St. Ignatius High School on Lorain Ave, where families can enjoy a day filled with fun activities. "Bring the kids to see the trucks, meet the firefighters, eat some lunch, and enjoy delicious Honey Hut & Pierre’s ice cream," the Cleveland Fire post encourages. Subsequent socials will follow in neighborhoods across the city, including Old Brooklyn, Collinwood, and the NEW Station 26 on Kinsman at E.90th.
Cleveland's Fire Department has long embraced the Ice Cream Social as a vehicle for community engagement, an opportunity for residents to mingle with the city's bravest and foster a sense of camaraderie. The events also serve as a casual educational platform, offering insights into firefighters' everyday lives and duties while promoting safety awareness amongst the youngest citizens.
