In a heartfelt annual tradition, the 21st Annual Firefighters Memorial Ride took place, gathering 500 motorcyclists at The Cleveland Firefighters Memorial to honor the memory of firefighters who gave their lives in service over the past year. Fire Chief Anthony Luke and Cleveland Fire Fighters IAFF Local 93 President Jake Konys represented the Cleveland Fire Department at the event. According to a social media post from the Cleveland Fire Department, the ceremony featured the awarding of five $1K scholarships prior to the memorial service.
The ceremony, hosted by Monica Robins (WKYC), took a moment to especially remember Madison Fire Lieutenant Alan Van Kramer, Painesville Fire Lieutenant Amanda Karduck, and Cleveland Firefighter Shawn Calvey. In a gesture of community and heartfelt remembrance, the crowd came together to support loved ones and fellow service members. The ride aimed to not just collectively honor the fallen but also actively to further the educations of new generations with scholarship awards.
