Cleveland State University has spotlighted the achievements of departing senior Madyson Morris, who excels not just in academics but also in community involvement and leadership. As Morris prepares to bid farewell to her alma mater, she leaves behind a trace of empowerment and advocacy, having engaged deeply with Cleveland’s community through her role as a student teacher and a CSU cheerleader.
In a recent celebration of Morris's accomplishments, CSU highlighted her significant internship experience. Morris completed an internship at the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District during her final year. She steered a Pre-K class, guiding young students through their first structured learning experience, "This past year I have had the great opportunity to complete my student teaching internship within the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District," Morris proudly recounted to CSU. Her responsibilities included lesson planning, differentiation for various learning needs, and data assessment to inform instruction. She also emphasized the importance of fostering relationships with students and their families to bridge the school-home divide, an approach echoing CSU's commitment to community engagement. Morris led spring parent-teacher conferences as part of her immersive learning experience, showcasing her leadership and communicative abilities.
When discussing the connections she forged at CSU, Morris didn't hesitate to express her gratitude for the support she received from the university community. "The connections that I have made with faculty and staff at CSU have been so valuable," Morris told CSU, calling out Gail Nelson and Dr. Markita Warren from the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education for their mentorship and support. Morris believes these connections have greatly contributed to her success, highlighting the faculty's dedication to Student success beyond regular school hours.
Cleveland State has served as more than an academic platform for Morris—it has been a source of lifelong inspiration. "Cleveland State has inspired me for my future by providing me with ample opportunities and experiences to learn and grow," she explained via CSU news, the breadth of her journey. The university's mission, which revolves around engagement, leadership, and empowerment, resonates through Morris's pursuits and her commitment to bettering both herself and those around her. As a student teacher and cheerleader, Morris was involved in tutoring initiatives, participated in community events, and served as a university ambassador. Through these roles, Morris not only fulfilled CSU’s mission, but she also seized opportunities to serve and contribute to the local community.
